Game, or the proverb?

Opening view of the park from Nicky Case's public post-mortem still.

If you wanted to play

The title is We Become What We Behold. People also type you become what you behold, you are what you behold, and we are what we behold. Those are the same memory with the verb swapped. The free browser game is on the front page, and the author's listing is the itch page.

A picture-memory that has no words at all, just squares and circles, is what's that game. A Roblox memory is Say Cheese.

If you wanted who said it

The proverb is older than the game and the attribution is messy. Blake wrote 'he became what he beheld'. The game prints a plural line, signs McLuhan, and immediately labels the signature misattributed. That write-up is the quote page. The Bible question is separate because it is a different hope.

I am not making a page per variant. One splitter is enough, and it keeps the odd spellings from looking like extra games.

Park scene from We Become What We Behold: circles and squares under a tree, with a news chyron on the television.

FAQ

Is 'you become what you behold' a different game?

No. It is a rewording. The 2016 game is titled We Become What We Behold.

Is 'we are what we behold' the quote?

It is another variant of the proverb. The game's card uses 'we become', credits McLuhan, and marks that credit misattributed.

What about Netflix or other 'become' titles?

Not this. If the memory is a camera, a park, and a television chyron, it is this game. If it is a series or a different title, it is not.
